QuirkBooks, Ransom Riggs and so Forth

Over winter break this year I decided to explore publishers social media pages. You know, tumblr, twitter, facebook and so forth. Well, I stumbled upon one of my favorite publishing houses, QuirkBooks tumblr page and low and behold their was a contest to enter.

Of course, I love contests, especially contests that involve winning something I really want.

This was a signed copy of Ransom Riggs novel, the sequel to his previous one Miss Peregrines Home For Peculiar Children (which is getting a film adaptation directed by Tim Burton within the next year). Hollow City is the follow up and I hadn’t gotten the chance to read it yet. Which is a little strange come to think of it seeing as I consumed its predecessor in a day. (fun fact: I actually sent in an audition tape for the lead character in the movie! Didn’t get it of course but it was fun].

Anyway, the contest was to create a picture or gif image for tumblr that represented one of their novels.

Gee whiz, I thought, which novel would I like to create a gif for? …Hollow City.

This is the gif image I created. I used the photograph illustration on the cover of Hollow City combines with images from Miss Peregrine. I then drew in some animation on the eyes. I believe there were three winners total, but I’m not quite sure.

It wasn’t long before my book showed up and I sure was excited. To my surprise though, it contained an additional sticker with Ransom Riggs signature on it to put on my copy of Miss Peregrine.

I now had both books signed. As we all know, there’s nothing better than a signed book!

Until next time!
