In case ya missed it I have a webcomic called Totally Crushed on Webtoon and Tapas. It’s cute n gay. 🌈
Fun fact!! The therapist on this page gave me this little squishy turtle thing when I was 9 and I still have it! I didn't actively hang onto it, but somehow it's managed to hang around. It was meant as a sensory/stimming sort of thing cause it’s squishy.
My latest sticker is available on Etsy and I think I’m halfway out of stock already??? You can get one at Etsy.com/shop/DamiAnimatedShop 📕
It’s independent bookstore day!!! You can buy Other Boys at your local indie shop! If you purchase it from my local indie I can sign it as well! shoponceuponatime.com
Here’s a color fun fact about Other Boys.
I really like this panel in todays Totally Crushed! 🌈 check it out on Webtoon!
This quote is in the back of the school counselors office in Other Boys, and it’s something that as a kid I would find kind of corny BUT would also make me feel safer. I always looked for rainbow and pink triangle stickers on doors to know if a grownup would hate me for being me or not. 🌈 Anyway, this little illustration is available in my new print shop @ inprnt.com/gallery/damianimated
I got new glasses and I really like moss green so I figured a new profile picture was due. 🪴 Whenever I put on my apron I feel ready to paint 🎨
I was looking through some old American Girl catalogs and found the juxtaposition of girls in modern clothing playing with dolls in victorian attire really charming
I had this idea saved in my notes for a spooky middle grade story that’s like Madeline meets A Series of Unfortunate Events 👻 📚
All these challenged books got be thinking about my teenage loneliness 🌈📚 When I created Other Boys I thought of a sad little me picking it up and feeling a little less little and sad.
I was feeling down in the dumpeties so I decided to compile a bunch of positive quotes about Other Boys! If you’ve read and enjoyed it leaving a review or rating on Goodreads, Amazon, etc really helps authors books get an extra push and get seen more ♥️ 📕 Also, it’s nice to see that people are enjoying it cause being an author is kinda like existing in an abyss.
I watched Turning Red and it’s my entire personality now so it got me thinking about myself in 2002 (when it takes place) and how huge of a dweeb I was.
Teachers and librarians are some of the greatest supporters of authors, so I’m doing an exclusive little giveaway just for teachers and librarians! 📚 Inspired by the recent bills trying to harm LGBTQ students I’ll be giving away 2 signed copies of my graphic memoir Other Boys, a true story about my experiences in 7th grade growing up not feeling like I belonged and dealing with toxic masculinity and gender expectations before I eventually came out as gay 🌈
These are some of my favorite panels from my Webtoon “Totally Crushed!” that I thought I would share here 😌 I realized one of the most common themes throughout everything I write is loneliness.
I haven’t posted in a while cause social media stresses me out and I’ve been finding it harder and harder to reach out to others, to keep up with friends and messages and emails. Everything makes me anxious lately. 🤷🏻‍♂️ but I did some school visits recently and they had me thinking about 13 year old me and turning 30 this year, having just released a book about being 13… anyway, I thought I’d commemorate turning vintage today with a little comic 😌
I rearrange me and @kevinthewriter ‘s book shelves so often, craving the perfect bright aesthetic 🌈 It won’t be long before I rearrange them all again. Most of the books are doubled and tripled up. Right now I kind of have a rainbow thing going on (one of) my graphic novel shelves. And then there’s the TBR cart that looks like it’s about to collapse…
I hope everyone’s staying bundled up if you’re somewhere cold right now 🥶 This is one of my favorite panels from Other Boys.
I like this quote about other boys 🌈👀
I was going to recycle some papers and then I realized this is the sketch that became the first page of Other Boys haha 🌈
