I'll be honest, I never actually put them in my mouth aside from a small little bite here and there to test the squishability of them. But how wonderful was that little nibble. Here’s a little clip that looks cool in the book as a page flip, and I thought could work as a fun Instagram swipe! It’ll be two whole years since my grandmother died and it doesn’t feel like it’s been more than a few months for me. I feel like I should be excitedly promoting this book but I just feel a deep melancholy pit in the center of my chest. I was so excited to show her it when I was finally finished. Grief is so interesting. Asked one too many questions and suddenly I wasn't allowed to watch Golden Girls on the living room floor because it wasn't "age-appropriate." :/ Reviews are rolling in for Hand-Me-Down, publishing later this month! I had fun making these graphics from art in the book. You can preorder wherever books are sold, your favorite independent or request a copy at your local library! 📚 Since it’s Father’s Day and Pride Month I thought I’d share Marcella’s dad’s from my graphic novel Absolutely Everything! 📕 I loved being able to write and illustrate this perfectly imperfect family. They’ve been near and dear to my heart since I first came up with them when I was in high school and I’m so happy to see them in a real book that people had resonated with so many people. Thank you to everyone who’s read and enjoyed it! 🌈 Did you ever have any really odd interests as a kid? I was weirdly fixated on old-timey things (and still am TBH) and forced to have trendy Pokemon shirts and fun Toy Story sneakers (that I also enjoyed TBH). I think American Girl and Anne of Green Gables are to blame.
